Spring/Summer Fashion Trends for 2013

This is a guest post from Ruth Hinds of J&J Fashion.

Have you started to plan your spring/summer wardrobe for 2013 yet? As a new season gets going, it’s a good time to assess your wardrobe and invest in a few key pieces that will keep you looking sharp and up to date.

Here, we take a look at a few of the biggest fashion trends for spring/summer 2013.

Belted floral dresses

Forget stuffy corporate wear, office style gets a makeover this season, and feminine, belted floral dresses are the perfect way to bring your work wardrobe up to date. Look for pieces with a slighter lower hemlines to keep your look professional and sophisticated. The belt is a wonderful addition for making the most of your figure.

Document clutches

The humble handbag has growing responsibilities, as we now have all our technology items to carry around with us, as well as the usual keys and lipstick. Document clutches have enough space for an iPad or small laptop, and look great whatever the occasion. Bringing functionality into fashion, they’ll be a much-loved item by many women. Expect to see them in the office, in the bar, and on the high street.

Pencil skirts

Pencil skirts are a timeless classic, and are perfect if you want to achieve a ladylike but slightly sexy look. Go for pieces in clashing colours and on-trend patterns to bring your style into 2013. Wear with a crisp white shirt for a meeting, or a fitted cardigan for weekend shopping trips.

Bomber jackets

An interesting mix between luxe sportswear and 80s chic, bomber jackets have appeared on many catwalks and are set to be big fashion news this season. Don’t rule out leather just because the warmer months are coming up. Experimenting with different styles could mean that you have something suitable for almost any occasion. Go for something lightweight that can be teamed with jeans for a casual yet on-trend finish.

Striped suits

Striped suits have been seen on the runways of Vivienne Westwood, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors recently, so it’s safe to assume that they’ll be a wise purchase this year. They’re expertly tailored and slightly masculine, and you can be sure that you’ll get noticed wherever you go. Wear to the office on days when you want to really make an impact.

Will you be trying any of these looks in 2013? Which ones are your favorite?
