Accessory Trends for Spring 2012:

Are you ready to shed your layers of cable knit, thick tights, and heavy boots? I know I am! Bring on the soft hues, vibrant punches of neon, and fun trends like color blocking to help usher in springtime. If winter has left you feeling drab, or a little wary of how to transition into warmer seasons, I’ll give you a refresher course and tips on trends for Spring 2012.

When it comes to neon, I’m not talking 90s, paint splatter, and crazy wayfarers. Think a surprising pop of a super-vibrant and unexpected color. These splashes of lime, lemon, and electric pink add a fun, yet surprisingly polished touch to your outfit. The neon looks especially ladylike when the item is an otherwise classic, like this neon satchel. Keep these neon pops to a minimum, as they can easily overwhelm a look. {image: the Glitter Guide}
Let’s talk pastels. While pastels have historically been thought of as the color palette of spring, it goes further than Easter egg colors this year. With a huge focus on ladylike colors, pastels were seen on the runway last fall in anticipation of spring. The gorgeous palette from Phillip Lim’s collection featured peach and a gorgeous lavender. Also spotted on the runway: lots of mint, baby blues, and soft pink. Grab a satchel in a pastel and pair it with the other light colors to pull the trend off right. {image:}
Phillip Lim’s collection also highlights another popular trend: colorblocking! This spring, take advantage of the reigning trend and find funky pieces that pull multiple trends together. Think: pastel and neon colorblocking. Love it! You can pull a colorblocked look together by piecing solids, or finding accessories like this colorblock satchel, that sport the trend.
Get inspiration for how to work all of these trends with this mashup of Spring 2012 trends in accessories:
